Fees rebates and policies

A referral is not needed to access our services, however, it can give you access to a Medicare rebate.

Pia consults with self managed and plan managed NDIS participants as well as clients with private health insurance. Pia also sees individuals under Workcover and Defence Personnel through BUPA and Open Arms.

As a private billing practice, our fees attract an out of pocket cost; this includes telehealth (phone and video) services. Session fees start at $265 and are be paid in full at the time of the appointment.

Clinical Psychologist Fee $265 per 50 minute session. Initial consultation sessions are charged at $280.
Couples Therapy Fee $ 270 per 50 minute session. Initial sessions are 80 minutes $395.
Assessment Fees: contact us as fees vary

With a valid referral, clients may be eligible for a Medicare rebate of $141.85, which is processed after full payment of the session fee is made by the client. This would make the out-of-pocket expense $123.15.

About our fees:

  • This is a private practice, we do not bulk bill.
  • Payment is processed after the consultation with your stored card on file.
  • Medicare rebates are processed at the same time as payment, if your details are stored.
  • Medicare rebates are only claimable after the full session fee is paid.
  • Medicare rebates are not claimable for late cancellation and/or non-attendance fees.
  • We have set our fee structure well below the APS recommended fee of $300 per session.

The Integrative Psych is a paperless clinic! All paperwork, forms, and handouts are provided electronically to save unnecessary waste. Please send all documents electronically and they will be uploaded onto your file.

Letter and Report Fees

With the exception of progress letters to your GP (as specified by Medicare), all letters and reports written outside of sessions attract a fee for time in increments of 15 minutes. Advise your psychologist at the start of your session if you require a report or letter and they can advise accordingly. Please note, we do not write medico legal reports.

Cancellation Policy

Why we have a cancellation policy:
A late cancellation or non-attendance of an appointment is a loss to three people:

  1. the client who is delaying their therapy process
  2. another client who has been on the waiting list
  3. the clinician who has spent time preparing for the session

We also appreciate your understanding that we, as a private practice, are unable to absorb these costs.

We ask that in choosing to be a client of our service, you commit to contacting us with at least 48 hours’ notice if you need to cancel / reschedule an appointment. If you are a Medicare, private or self-managed NDIS client and give less than 48 hours’ notice, you accept responsibility for payment of the cancellation fee of 50% of the full session fee. Clients that do not provide notice and do not show to their session will be charged the full session fee.

How to cancel or reschedule an appointment:
Changes to appointments should be made online. This can be done in the below ways:

  • Click on the appointment link in your email confirmation from the initial booking
  • Using the client portal (this requires an email and password and will allow you to see all appointments and invoices)

About Medicare rebates

Clients must see their GP, psychiatrist or pediatrician to obtain a referral letter to be eligible for Medicare rebates. Rebates are set by Medicare and paid by Medicare to the client.

Assessments do not attract a Medicare rebate and must be paid for privately. Costs of assessments will be discussed and billed prior to commencing.

How many rebates you can claim and when to go back to see your doctor

The Australian Government’s Better Access initiative allows for the following amount of rebateable sessions per calendar year (1st January – 31st December) if approved for and referred by your doctor:

  • 10 x individual sessions

Please note:
If you have claimed rebates for mental health services elsewhere within the calendar year, those will count towards your maximum amount of claimable sessions.
The initiative stipulates that doctors refer for courses of treatment, meaning that all 10 sessions are not able to be referred for at once.

See our table below outlining the referral process and when you need to go back to your doctor for a new referral letter.

Private health fund rebates

We do not process private health claims on behalf of clients.

To claim your sessions on your private health, we will provide you with a receipt for payment which you can submit to your health fund.

Individuals and families with private health cover may be able to claim rebates for psychology services.

We recommend that you check with your health fund before attending your session to ensure that you have appropriate cover, as individual cover and funds have different policies and limits.
